The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (especially Erin at the front desk and the young men at the valet stand). The trade-off is: a view of the bay comes with traffic noise. The only drawback for some will be the traffic noise if you have a room on the highway/bay side of the hotel in my room I could clearly hear the traffic but to me (living in a small city), it was like white noise. Shopping and multiple restaurants within easy walking distance. The roof of the hotel is a very large open patio area with attractive seating areas and a view of Grand Traverse Bay there is a large bar on the roof. The hotel restaurant had very good food for breakfast, lunch and dinner there is a large bar and coffee bar off the lobby area with lots of windows overlooking the bay. The bathroom was large with a walk in shower (large enough that there was not a shower door), with nice tile work. Rooms at Hotel Indigo Traverse City offer a flat screen TV and air conditioning providing exceptional comfort and convenience, and guests can go online with free wifi. The room was larger than most hotel rooms, with no carpeting other than an area rug under and around the bed. I spent three nights here and liked the hotel for the comfort of the rooms and public areas. (Outdoor movies from the Film Fest played past 11:00pm.) Not to mention noise from whatever event is going on at the park across the street. Don't bother paying more for the lake view room in Traverse City, unless you're used to hearing busy traffic all night long. I have stayed in a similar hotel in Chicago on Lake Shore Drive, and the noise was considerably less. We certainly should have heeded the other reviews that commented about this. While the lake view was nice, the noise from the street and the fest at the park across the street was more than anticipated. As for the down-side: no refrigerator, microwave or in-room safe. There was a small coffee maker, iron & board, iHome clock-radio with plugs for 2 USB cords to charge your devices. The shower was large, and hot water flowed almost immediately after turning it on. The room was clean, and we were able to adjust the temperature to our level of comfort. They have valet service for $12/day, unlimited in-and-out privileges 24-hours/day. The Rooftop Bar at Hotel Indigo (also known as H&L Social) is a scenic hotel rooftop lounge overlooking the Grand Traverse Bay. There is a workout room, but no pool or hot tub. It boasts a rooftop[ bar, though we didn't have a chance to visit it during our trip. It's also within walking distance to a good amount of shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel is located across the street from the lake, which features a beach and park. The common areas are clean, staff is helpful and friendly.
